Energy Recovery Inc, a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of energy recovery devices, is helping to make seawater desalination affordable. The PX Pressure Exchanger (PX) energy recovery device can reduce the amount of energy required to desalinate seawater by up to 60%, resulting in more economical production of drinking water and a reduced carbon footprint. Over 6,000 PX devices have been shipped to more than 80 OEMs worldwide to support the production of drinking water for about 17 million people. These devices are saving an estimated 550 MW of energy, and reducing carbon dioxide production by about 1.6 million tons per year ERI has its headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area and offices in key desalination centers worldwide.
