Councils in Merseyside have drafted a joint municipal waste management strategy for the region
that includes recycling 50% of household waste by 2020.
Scottish Environment Secretary Richard Lochhead has heaped praise on a low-cost
recycling scheme that has seen Fife Council's recycling rates soar to 65%. 
Innovative local solutions to accelerate recycling rates and reward people for doing the right thing will be given a Dragon's Den-style kick start under plans outlined by Lord Henley.
As Recycle Week gets underway, a new survey shows that more than three quarters of people in
Wales are committed recyclers.
