Big deal as May Gurney oversees recycling in Bridgend

May Gurney is looking to increase recycling rates
May Gurney has been appointed as preferred bidder for Bridgend County Borough Council's recycling, waste collection and household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) contract, valued at up to £75M.

The contract, which begins in April 2010 includes collections for recycling, waste and food waste, and management of the council's four HWRCs. The contract runs for an initial seven years with a further seven-year extension available.

Philip Fellowes-Prynne, chief executive of May Gurney, said: "The council appointed us because of our commitment to working in partnership with them to deliver the Welsh Assembly Government's waste diversion targets. The service we developed for Bridgend includes recycling a wider range of materials than more traditional approaches. The service is centred on deploying MaGos, our next generation kerbside-sort solution."

May Gurney currently delivers similar services to 18 local authorities across the UK. More than 95% of its business is represented by dependable long-term contracts in the public and regulated sectors.
