Maidstone's Mall has awarded its retail waste management contract to Countrystyle Group
The Countrystyle Group is supplying Maidstone's largest shopping centre with a series of large
compactor bins and wheelie bins for on-site waste segregation and recycling.
Countrystyle will be working closely with the centre, known as The Mall, to introduce as many
initiatives as possible to aid on-site recycling. To start with, the company has provided The Mall
with a variety of wheelie bins for segregation - these will work alongside the centre's facility to
bale cardboard for ease of removal.
The bins have been customised with a distinctive design, which features The Mall's slogan
of 'making a difference'. The baled cardboard and the segregated waste will be handled by
Countrystyle and, wherever possible, recycled. General waste that is collected in the compactor
bins will be taken to the Allington waste-to-energy plant, operated by Kent Enviropower.
"We are delighted to be working with Countrystyle," commented Paul Alcock, general
manager of The Mall. "We are pleased that we are doing something useful with our rubbish.
Hopefully the impact of these bins being seen around the local area when they are collected will
tell local people that we are keen to protect our environment and make a difference".
A specialist in managing retail waste, Kent-based Countrystyle also works with a variety of
other organisations covering virtually every sector including manufacturing, construction and
hospitality.
